CAMPUS ALERT: Baton Rouge Landmass receives security threat

The safety of the Southern University campus community remains our highest priority. In light of the recent security threat, enhanced security measures are actively in place across the landmass.
Law enforcement has advised that this is no longer an active threat at this time. However, we ask that all students, faculty, and staff remain alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. If you observe any suspicious behavior, unattended items, or anything that seems out of place, report it immediately by calling 911. Your attentiveness is an essential part of keeping our campus safe.
While the campus is closed, students residing in on-campus housing will still be able to access the landmass with their Southern University ID.
Stay informed by closely monitoring all official communications for timely updates and safety alerts, including:
- Campus email
- Official SU social media channels
- The Jags Safe app (available on Apple and Android devices)

Southern University and A&M College has received a potential threat to campus safety and is on lockdown. The lockdown applies to the entire Baton Rouge landmass, which also includes Southern University Law Center, Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, and Southern University Laboratory School. If you are on campus, you should shelter in place until further notice, as the University is working with law enforcement agencies.
More information will be provided as it becomes available. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911. If you are not already on the landmass, do not travel to the landmass.
