Committee selected for Southern University Law Center chancellor search

The Southern University System today announced members of the search committee for the next chancellor of the Southern University Law Center. The diverse group — selected by Myron K. Lawson, chairman of the SU System Board of Supervisors, and Dennis J. Shields, president of the SU System — represents current SULC students and employees, community members, and business leaders.
 
The search committee members are:
  • Angela Allen Bell, Professor at SULC
  • Aishala Burgess, Assistant District Attorney for East Baton Rouge Parish and SULC alumnus
  • Angela Scott Gains, Director of Facilities/ADA Coordinator for SULC
  • Joshua G. Hollins, Director of Public Finance at Stifel and SULC alumnus
  • Erin Monroe, Greater Louisiana Market Vice President for Cox Communications
  • Okechukwu Oko, Professor at SULC
  • Whitley Parker, SULC Student and Student Bar Association President
  • Alejandro “Al” Perkins, Managing Partner at Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins LLP
  • Winston W. Riddick Sr., Lawyer and Former SULC Professor
  • Tarvald Anthony Smith, Judge (District 19, Division A) and SULC alumnus
  • James E. Stewart, Sr., Caddo Parish District Attorney
 
The search committee, co-chaired by Hollins and Perkins, will hold its first meeting on Thursday, June 27 at noon in the Board Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the J.S. Clark Administration Building on the campus of Southern University and A&M College. The chancellor is slated to be identified in November with a start date of no later than July 1, 2025.
