Newly appointed SU System Board members complete confirmations at State Capitol

Six newly appointed members of the Southern University System Board of Supervisors — Christopher Masingill, Quincy Cawthorne, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Reggie Abraham, Donald Ray Henry, and Domoine Rutledge — have completed their confirmation hearings before the Louisiana Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee at the State Capitol. These appointments, announced by Governor Jeff Landry in December 2024, became effective on January 4, 2025.
These individuals bring a wealth of experience from various sectors, including economic development, law enforcement, education, and public service. Notably, several appointees are alumni of Southern University, with Rutledge having previously served as chairman of the Board.
“I’m honored to be appointed by Governor Jeff Landry to the Southern University System Board of Supervisors, a vital body supporting educational excellence and future opportunities," said Sheriff Whitehorn, following the confirmation hearings. I’ve consulted with State Senator Sam Jenkins regarding the confirmation process and appreciate his support. I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve with integrity and contribute to the advancement of higher education in our state.”
