Southern students place third in TMCF/NBA Challenge

Three Southern University students recently placed third in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund/NBA Innovate the Future Challenge. interdisciplinary team of students on May 6-7 created a solution to a case associated with expanding the NBA’s international reach. Team members received bronze medals at the completion of their winning presentation. Southern was one of only five institutions in the nation chosen to participate in the national competition.
The team members included:
Rason Irvin (captain), a junior from Houston majoring in computer science
LeAsya Johnson, a junior from Denham Springs, Louisiana, majoring in finance
Ross Tedesco, a senior from New Orleans majoring in management
Derrick Warren, interim associate dean of the College of Business, served as faculty adviser. Co-adviser support included Brian Adams, Yolander Smith, Graeme Coetzer and Ada Womack. Academic sponsors were Donald Andrews, dean of the College of Business; Patrick Carriere, dean of the College of Sciences and Engineering; and John Pierre, chancellor of the Southern University Law Center.
