Southern University System Presidential Search Committee announces timeline for system president selection
The Southern University System Presidential Search Committee held its first meeting today in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room on Southern University’s campus in Baton Rouge.
The 17-member committee outlined a tentative timeline for the presidential selection process, including key dates for advertising, stakeholder engagement, application review and interviews.
The proposed schedule is as follows:
- Feb. 19: Committee meeting to discuss the advertising process
- Feb. 23–27: Stakeholder engagement sessions proposed with Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport campuses and community partners
- Mar. 2: Launch of advertising
- April 2: Application deadline
- April 9: Committee meeting to select semifinalists
- April 22–23: Interviews of semifinalists
- May 4–8: Interviews for finalists
- May 12: Recommendation of candidate(s) to the full Board of Supervisors
- May 14: Meeting of the Southern University Board of Supervisors for consideration of recommended candidates
