High school students invited to 'College Night on The Bluff'

  High school juniors and seniors will get a heavy dose of Southern University on April 11 when the University holds its annual "College Night on The Bluff."

The exciting evening at Southern will include scholarship offers to qualified students, information on financial aid, housing, courses of study, and all of the components that make Southern University a great institution of higher learning.

Deans and faculty members, student organization leaders, along with representatives from virtually every department will be available to answer questions from parents and would-be Jaguars.

The event starts at 6 p.m., April 11, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union. Those persons seeking merit scholarships should bring a copy of their latest high school or other transcript along with ACT and/or SAT scores.

And, for the first time at the event, there will be scholarships for students who don't qualify for the high academic awards. Students who have completed a registration form and meet entrance requirements for the University will have their names placed in raffle for a chance to win a scholarship.

The University also offers study abroad programs and has partnered with China to form a student exchange program.

Southern's business and engineering grads are working at many of the top Fortune 500 companies in the world, including IBM, ExxonMobil, Entergy, Caterpillar Corp., Raytheon, Dow Chemical, Shell Oil, ESPN, Chevron, Proctor and Gamble, etc.

Graduates of our College of Education are school administrators, teachers, counselors, and college professors working around the country.

Students, whose interests lie in music, have a number of choices, from concert choir and band, to being part of the "Human Jukebox," the greatest college marching band on Earth.
