Southern University has been awarded a $5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to establish the "Next Generation Composites Crest Center," called NextGenC3, on the university's campus.

Southern University's Teachers of the Year
Southern University students nominated and voted Drs. Jarrett Landor-Ngemi and Chanika Jones as their favorite teachers. Landor-Ngemi is an assistant professor in the College of Education and Jones is an Associate Professor in Criminal Justice. Landor-Ngemi has been in the College of Education since 2009, while Jones came to the Criminal Justice in 2008.

The SU Dancing Dolls to hold tryouts July 13, application deadline June 15
Southern University and A&M College will be holding tryouts for its world famous Dancing Dolls squad on Saturday, July 13 at 8 a.m., in the Isaac Greggs Band Hall on the SUBR campus. Application deadline is June 15.
