Student Government Association

Greetings Jaguars!

I am, Willie E. McCorkle, III, Senior Mass Communications Major from New Orleans, Louisiana, and I am the 2012-2013 President of the Student Government Association here at Southern University A&M College. I also serve as the Vice-Chairman to the Council of Student Body Presidents in the state of Louisiana.

I'm excited to have all of you attending "SU" this semester! I can guarantee you that you've made the right choice, and most importantly I'm proud that you have taken the next step towards ensuring a successful future. One main thing I want you to remember is that "education" is the key to any door you want opened in your life. As SGA President, I look forward to serving and assisting you with anything you need, and helping you matriculate throughout this prestigious institution we call Southern University.

I welcome all members of the Jaguar Nation and visitors to the site from all areas of the globe. I would like to encourage you to support Southern University, and visit to experience first-hand, the beauty of our home, its historical traditions and legendary landmarks.

Student Government Association is divided into three equal branches. The SGA President heads the Executive Branch, and otherwise known as the SGA Executive Cabinet, it serves as an administrative committee for the Student Government. The legislative powers of the Student Government are vested in the SGA Senate led by the SGA Vice President. Finally, the Student Judiciary, headed by the student Chief Justice serves as the SGA's Judicial Branch.

Here at Southern, you will begin to make memories and forge friendships that will last all the way through your adult life! Don't hesitate to stop by the SGA office if you have any questions or concerns. Remember to have fun, study hard, and most importantly, graduate! GO JAGUARS!

Yours in service,

Willie E. McCorkle, III
