BIO:  Dr. del Rio received her M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Texas at Austin in Latin American and Spanish Literatures and Language & Cultural Studies.  Her second concentration was in Literary Theory and Criticism and Philosophy.  She has published a book on Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges and many articles on Latin American narrative fiction.  She has also published in the field of Latina Studies in the USA.

Dr. Lassiter is a Professor of  French and Spanish. She obtained the Ph.D. in Education from the University of Mississippi, and has done postdoctoral research at Educational Testing Service and was a Mellon fellow Johns Hopkins University.  Her research interests include Affective Variables in Language Learning  and the Foreign Language Profession.  Dr. Lassiter serves as the Supervisor of Fulbright Language Teaching Assistantship Program, and is sponsor of Alpha Mu Gamma, the national collegiate foreign language honor society.
