SU Jaguars reign in national, intellectual competition

Southern University and A& M College (SUBR) participated in the National African-American Association of Honors Programs Conference, October 29-November 1, 2016, in Nashville, Tennessee. Thirty-one Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) were represented.
SU urban forestry professor honored with USDA Excellence in Teaching Award

Ning, professor, Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Department in the College of Agriculture, Southern University, Baton Rouge, was honored with the United States Department of Agriculture Excellence in College and University Teaching Award, November 13, 2016, in Austin Texas, during the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) annual meeting.

SU honors college program associate selected NAAAHP national secretary

Southern University program associate and recruiter for the Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College, Eric G. Pugh, was selected as the new national secretary for the National Association of African Honors Programs (NAAAHP). This year's NAAAHP conference was held in Nashville, Tennessee from October 29 - November 2, 2016. The theme for this year's conference was "Celebrating 25 Sterling Years of Academic Distinction."

SUBR professor receives DOE/NNSA funding for research

Southern University Distinguished Professor of Physics Diola Bagayoko was awarded a $175,000 research grant from the United States Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This project is a part of the work of the Consortium for Materials and Energies Security (CMaES) led by Florida A&M University.
SU nursing professor inducted in American Academy of Nursing 2016 Class of New Fellows

Southern University School of Nursing professor Wanda Spurlock, was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. The induction ceremony was held at the Marquis Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC, October 22, 2016, in conjunction with the Academy’s 2016 policy conference, “Transforming Health, Driving Policy.”
