Ethos Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is my Student login?
    Your campus identity will be associated with your login @subr.edu

    As a student of Southern University of Baton Rouge you will have received your campus identity (login and password) when you are admitted to the university by enrollment services. During this time a notice will be sent to your personal email address that includes your campus identity (username, password, and associated email address).Your student campus identity will be firstname_lastname_00 , then @subr.edu, though; certain users cases may not apply to this default username.

    e.g. if there is someone else already in the system with the same name then 01, 02, 03, etc. would be replaced with 00. So please reference the notification email sent or contact DOIT help desk for the correct username at 225-771-HELP

  2. What is my Employee login?
    Your campus identity will be associated with your login @subr.edu

    As an Employee of Southern University of Baton Rouge you will have received your campus identity (login and password) when Human Resources accept you for employee orientation. During this time a notice will be sent to your personal email address that includes your campus identity (username, password, and associated email address).  Your email address will be firstname_lastname, then @subr.edu, though; certain users cases may not apply to this default username.

    e.g. If there is someone else already in the system with the same name this default username will not apply to you. If you are a Student of the institution prior to becoming an Employee may not apply to you if requested. If you are an Employee of the institution prior to becoming a student may not apply to you if requested.

  3. What is my campus identity? 
    Your campus identity is composed of several information that identifies you in the system. Any changes of identity needs to be debt with by Human Resource (Employee) or Registrar Office (Students).
    e.g. login and password (Ethos) and S number and PIN (Banner Self Service)

  4. What is Ethos?
    Ellucian Ethos Identity is a solution that provides authentication and single sign on (SSO) services. Users enter their campus identity once, and then move between various systems without additional authentication.

  5. What can I access with this login?
    Your campus identity is used to allow students, faculty and staff to access various systems used on campus, such as computers, wireless, Moodle, e-mail, Dynamic Forms, Banner 9, etc. 

  6. Who do I contact for help?
    Helpdesk support hours are from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Mondays through Fridays, closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Customers will contact by phone or KACE reporting system to report issues and to request help. In-person counter hours are in J.B. Moore Hall from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Mondays – Fridays. No counter hours are available on the weekends.

  7. How do I change my password?
    Go to Password Station Page, http://www.ps.subr.edu and Click on “Password Station" icon
    Follow the following steps:

     

    - Enter your username in the ID field and click on the I Agree button
    - Click on the Forgot Password button
    - Answer the three (3) security questions, Click on continue
    - Enter you new password in the New Password and Confirm fields. Click continue
    - Your password has been successfully changed. Click Sign Out 
  8. How do I unlock my account?
    Go to Password Station Page, http://www.ps.subr.edu and Click on “Password Station" icon
    Follow the following steps:

    - Enter you username in the User ID field and click on the I Agree button. 
    - Click on the Unlock Account button. 
    - Answer the three (3) security questions, Click on Continue
    - Your account has been unlocked. Click on the Continue button
    - You will need to change your password. 

  9. Will my password expires?
    Passwords must be changed every 30 days. You will receive an email in advance when your password is about to or has expired. 

  10. How do I fix misspelling of any personal information
    Name change or misspelled name requires valid documentation.
    If you are a Student please contact Registrar’s Office at 225-771-5050 or visit First Floor of T.H. Harris Hall.
    If you are an Employee please contact Human Resources at 225-771-5617 or visit First Floor of J.S. Clark Annex Building. 

  11. Can I change my username?
    Usernames are generated automatically and they are not based on your preferences. It is created at the start of your formal relationship with the University and will remain the same with certain exceptions. e.g. Name change or misspelled name.
