Program Mission Statement
The Department of Political Science and Geography seeks to prodeuce citizens well versed inthe substantive content of the disciplines of political sciences and geography in order to prepare its graduates for caeers in both public service and the private sector to promote the virtues consistent with civic engagement and global citizenship.
Message from the Chair
Welcome to the new website of the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice. By virtue of our recent academic reorganisation, we have leveraged the strengths of two of the most exciting and dyanmic programs of Southern University into one powerful department. The Political Science program has a long and storied history of producing graduates who have gone on to stellar achievements in graduate and porfessional school, academia, politics and government, and to successful careers in the private sector. Those students interested in pursuing a career in the Criminal justics field would find themselves a member of one of the fastest growing academic areas of interest at the university. The department of Political Science and Criminal Justice prides itsef on creating a nurturing,family-like atmosphere for its students. Prospective majors can expect to be exposed to challenging curricula, dynamic faculty, and to have access to internships, career, graduate and professional school counseling.
