Degrees in Political Science
BACHELOR OF ARTS
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree requires a total of 120 credit hours of which 39 semester hours are in Political Science and 27 semester hours of related social sciences (Sociology and Economics). Twenty-one of the semester hours in political science must be earned in courses at the 300 or 400 level. Six semester hours from each of the four related social science areas—Economics, Geography, History, and Sociology—are required.
BACHELOR OF ARTS – MINOR
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science minor degree consists of only 18 hours, where six credit hours are in introductory Political Science courses and the remaining 12 hours are in upper-level Political Science courses.
MASTER OF ARTS IN SOCIAL SCIENCE – POLITICAL SCIENCE
The Master of Arts in Social Sciences with a concentration in Political Science is designed to meet the needs of metropolitan area teachers, junior and middle level social service, personnel administrators and beginning graduate students who plan a career in law, or will seek the doctorate in one of the social science disciplines. The program focuses on the rigorous and comprehensive study of politics, building upon various fundamental skills integral to a career as a political scientist.
