SU prosper through internship program

Chadwick J. Scott and Jalisa C. Simms are among dozens of Southern University students that benefit from the school's aggressive internship and co-op program.

Scott and Simms, both senior business accounting/finance majors and Simms, will be, going to work, again, at the NASA Space Center in Houston.

Scott, from Destrehan, and Simms from Baton Rouge, were interns at NASA in the fall of 2011. Their work performance earned them another nomination from their mentors to get another co-op term.

Actually, Simms' first stop with NASA was in the fall of 2010 where she was a fund certifier working in the Travel group. In the summer of 2011, she again worked with NASA as a contract specialist in the International Space Station (ISS) procurement office. In the fall of 2011 she worked in the Projects Procurement Office.

Simms has received a job offer with NASA after graduation this spring.

Scott began with NASA in the spring of 2011 as a program analyst for the Business Systems Process Improvement Office. During the fall of 2011, Scott worked in Projects Procurement Office as well as the ISS procurement office.

Southern helps a multitude of its students get a leg up on their competition through the experiences they gain through internship and co-op programs.
