'Jazzin' Arts on the Bluff' to raise funds for College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies

The Southern University College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies will host its inaugural “Jazzin’ Arts on the Bluff” fundraising event on Saturday, March 29 at the Leon R. Tarver II Cultural and Heritage Center. The event, starting at 5 p.m., will feature a special performance by Southern University alumni Claudia Hayden and the Harry Anderson Band.
Proceeds from the event will support scholarships, study abroad programs, faculty research, and other academic resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on various items at a silent auction, while VIP ticket holders will receive access to the Southern University Museum along with specialty refreshments and cocktails.
Cynthia Bryant, dean of the College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, emphasized the significance of this event for the college.
“It will be an opportunity for attendees to enjoy the vast amount of talent within the College, as well as within the greater Baton Rouge community,” Bryant said. “I’m extremely excited about Jazzin’ Arts on the Bluff. It promises to be an unforgettable experience for all.”
VIP tickets for the concert start at $150 and grant early access at 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $100 and include entry at 6 p.m.
The fundraiser is one of several events scheduled during Southern University’s inaugural Academic Homecoming, a landmark celebration convened by Chancellor John Pierre to honor the university’s legacy and advance its future. Academic Homecoming, set for March 29-April 1, will bring together alumni, corporate stakeholders, and the Southern University community for a celebration of excellence.
