Southern University and head football coach Dawson Odums have agreed in principle to a multi-year contract extension that will keep the 2013 SWAC Coach of the Year in Baton Rouge through 2017 the school announced Thursday.

Southern University graduating senior Veronica Williams was selected last week as a Tabasco Scholarship recipient for being an outstanding marketing student.

Chancellor James L. Llorens and his wife, Glenda, made a personal donation of $10,000 on Thursday night at the university’s Christmas Concert to help launch the Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund.

The Center for Service Learning and Southern University students donated several hundred pounds of canned goods to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank today, just in time for the Christmas Holiday.

Representatives of the ExxonMobil Corporation – Baton Rouge presented a check for $25,000 on Tuesday to Southern University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Dr. Diola Bagayoko, Southern University System Distinguished Professor of Physics, was the leader among a group of SU colleagues in physics and engineering to receive a $358,997, one-year grant.
