Thurgood Marshall College fund leadership institute provides opportunities for HBCU Students

Annually, HBCU students from across the country are selected via application process, to participate in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Leadership Institute. The leadership institute conference is geared towards educating and facilitating HBCU students’ transition from college to the workforce. This year marked the 16th annual conference, held from November 18 - 22, in Washington D.C.
Slave narratives available on SU John B. Cade Library’s website

The Southern University John B. Cade Library invites the community to check out a collection of original slave literature entitled, Opinions Regarding Slavery: Slave Narratives. 1822-1865. The collection is an original manuscript created by former professor and dean John B. Cade Sr., who the Southern University Library is named after.

Southern University System, LCTCS announce Pathway Scholarship

Southern University System (SUS) and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) announced Wednesday, Nov. 30th the LCTCS/SUS Pathway Scholarship, an annual transfer scholarship worth up to $1,500 annually for active Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society student members who wish to transfer to either Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) or Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) upon completion of an associate's degree at an LCTCS college. Students who meet the LCTCS/SUS Pathway Scholarship Transfer guidelines will be guaranteed admission to SUBR or SUNO after completing an application to the college.

Southern University and A& M College (SUBR) participated in the National African-American Association of Honors Programs Conference, October 29-November 1, 2016, in Nashville, Tennessee. Thirty-one Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) were represented.

Southern University program associate and recruiter for the Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College, Eric G. Pugh, was selected as the new national secretary for the National Association of African Honors Programs (NAAAHP). This year's NAAAHP conference was held in Nashville, Tennessee from October 29 - November 2, 2016. The theme for this year's conference was "Celebrating 25 Sterling Years of Academic Distinction."
