GenCyber Security Youth Camp
WHAT IS SUBR GENCYBER YOUTH CAMP?
In a FREE 5-day camp, students will learn about the exciting world of cybersecurity. Each day, campers will participate in many hands-on computer activities to learn about different cybersecurity topics.
DO I HAVE TO KNOW A LOT ABOUT COMPUTERS TO ATTEND?
No! The camp is geared for all skill levels and it is designed to be a place where you can start to learn more about cybersecurity in a supportive and fun environment!
WHO CAN ATTEND SU GENCYBER CAMP?
Middle school and high school students ages 13 and older are eligible to apply for the camp. Students of all backgrounds and skill levels are welcome to join!
Organizers and Faculty Members
Dr. Yaser Banadaki is the Project Director of GenCyber Youth Camp at Southern University. He is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science, Southern University Baton Rouge, LA. He has a distinguished record of excellence in academic teaching and research activities in cybersecurity including several publications on network intrusion detections using Artificial Intelligence. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity and data science concentrations.
Dr. Shuju Bai is the lead instructor of GenCyber Youth Camp at Southern University. She is a Professor and Chairperson of Computer Science. She has experiences of advising student, curriculum and course design, teaching cybersecurity courses, supervising students’ research in big data and cybersecurity.
Dr. Lynette Jackson is the recruiter and pedagogical expert for the GenCyber Youth Camp at Southern University. She is an Assistant Professor of Department of Computer Science. She has more than 15 years of experience in K-12 advising and teaching.
