Mission Statement
The mission of the department is to prepare students to compete globally in their profession, and to achieve excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research, and public service.
Program Educational Objectives
The computer engineering curriculum at Southern University is dedicated to preparing students for productive careers in the state, nation, and the world. Within a few years after graduation, graduates of the computer engineering program will:
PEO-1: Possess the skills necessary to design and develop computer engineering systems, demonstrating proficiency in problem formulation, creative thinking, global information synthesis, collaborative teamwork, and effective communication.
PEO-2: Understand and adhere to ethical and professional responsibilities in utilizing data analysis, computational skills, and experimental techniques to address computer engineering challenges.
PEO-3: Demonstrate the knowledge and capabilities required for leadership and public service roles, acquired through exposure to fundamental concepts in management, business, and public policy. Graduates will be equipped to adapt to evolving technologies, methodologies, and concepts in the field of computer engineering.
