Greetings from the Division of Student Affairs

Southern University and A&M College has a rich history of corralling a diverse class of emerging leaders to join its ranks and providing them with a high-quality academic experience. The Division of Student Affairs serves the critical function of identifying and recruiting the next generation of Jaguars and complementing their academic experiences with diverse opportunities for academic, extracurricular and social engagement and development. We understand that providing a safe, positive environment for all students is paramount to their success inside the classroom and beyond. Working in partnership with faculty and staff across campus, we prepare students to be responsible and contributing members of a diverse, global society by providing learning-centered environments, meaningful out-of-class opportunities, and professional support services that help them learn through experience and achieve academic success. It is our mission to ensure that we are providing the degree and variety of services and support you will need to excel from application to graduation!

The Division of Student Affairs encompasses several departments which provide an array of support and services to the student population - Intramural Sports, Admissions and Recruitment, the Center for Student Success, the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence, Student Financial Aid, Residence Life & Housing, Food Services & Campus Dining, Student Life, Student Programs, Organizations, and Greek Life, Career Services, Student Media, Student Orientation and Leadership Development, the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union, Student Health Center services and University Counseling Center services. As the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs, it is my responsibility to provide a clear vision and empowering leadership to the Division to ensure each student is provided the encouragement, guidance, and high-quality services essential to success.
 
We encourage you to get involved in one of our many on-campus student organizations and service opportunities provided by the Division of Student Affairs. Get the most out of your college experience by joining a club such as become a Jaguar Ambassador to reach out to the next generation of Jaguars, or applying for the Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. Leadership Institute to hone your leadership skills with accomplished local, state and national industry leaders. Our more than 50 student clubs and organizations are ready to welcome you!
