Speech and Theatre Program
Training in the theatre arts can lead to careers in a diversity of fields, including acting, law, event planning, arts entrepreneurship , government, fashion, stage and lighting design, management, sales, television and radio, teaching, and any field involving strong presence, interpersonal connections, and communication skills.
The Frank Hayden Fine Arts Hall houses a 300-seat theater complex, most recently renovated in 2017 with an updated lighting and sound system. A spacious and attractive lobby leads to the theater, and is the setting for occasional arts exhibits and receptions.
Courses from improvisational acting to performance methods for leadership and facilitation offer students a wide range of approaches to performance. Going beyond the traditional dramatic canon, students will encounter techniques for developing stage presence, creative collaboration, and performance production. Our program encourages applications of performance both on and off the stage.
