Mbarika receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Victor W. A. Mbarika recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Cameroon Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists (CAECS).
Mbarika, the Houston Alumnae Endowed Professor in the College of Business, received the award for "Outstanding contribution in computer science and telecommunication" held May 18-19 at the Scientific and Technologic Forum of the Cameroonian Diaspora, an international symposium organized by the CAECS. The event hosts nearly 250 international guests from various fields of technology, academia, policymakers and professionals.
The gathering, held in Dortmund, Germany, provides a collegiate setting for presentations and discussions of national and international development issues of concern and best practice models.
The Cameroonian Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists were founded in 2000 in Frankfurt, Germany. Prior to its creation, the increasing number of engineers and computer science students from this part of Africa that live in Germany sought to establish an association which could help to improve their status in German universities.
The symposium honors the best Cameroonian graduates and professionals in the industry or in the field of research.
