SU students participate in 2017 Transportation Research Board national conference

Eight Southern University students participated in the 2017 Annual Transportation Research Board Conference in Washington, DC. The International conference was held in January at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and attracted more than 12,000 participants from throughout the world.

SUBR nursing student selected for NSNA resolutions panel

The National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) president, with Board approval, recently appointed Steven Jackson Jr., a graduating senior nursing student at Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) College of Nursing and Allied Health, to serve as a member of the 2016-2017 NSNA Resolutions Committee. This is the first time for a SNA leader from SUBR to be on the national level with student nurse leaders from other schools across the United States.

Three Southern University Baton Rouge professors were among 10 honorees to receive a STEM Innovation Award at the Becoming Everything You Are (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Global Competitiveness Conference in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. The conference, held February 9-11, 2017, included hundreds of high school students, thousands of college students and professional engineers and scientists from industry, universities, and government.
SU Quiz Bowl Team sweeps in national qualifying tournament

The Southern University Honda Campus All Star Challenge Quiz Bowl Team competed against nine teams from other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s), February 4, 2017, at Prairie View and A&M University. This event was the National Qualifying Tournament for the 2017 Honda National Competition.
Southern to host national scientific conference

Southern University and A&M College is hosting the 74th Joint Annual Meeting of Beta Kappa Chi (BKX) Scientific Honor Society and the National Institute of Science (NIS), March 15-18, at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel located at 7000 Bluebonnet Boulevard. The theme of the 2017 conference is “Utilizing Innovative STEM Research to Address Today’s Current Global Challenges.”
