CSPD Program

Rehabilitation Counseling Online - CSPD Program

There is a critical shortage of qualified Rehabilitation Counselors of diverse backgrounds at the state, regional, and national levels. As of 2007, only about 30% of professionals employed by the State-Federal rehabilitation agencies are from culturally diverse backgrounds. The position of Rehabilitation Counselor tops the list of 16 occupations with greater than average vacancy rates in VR agencies. The purpose of the project is to provide graduate traineeships that will assist public vocational rehabilitation agencies to meet the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) academic mandate for qualified rehabilitation professionals. This national project is designed to recruit, train, and mentor practicing professionals so that they continue to pursue careers in state-federal VR agencies.
