Southern University’s acclaimed art professor Randell Henry will receive a rare honor this week that he says surpasses the national recognition he has received as a professional artist.

Baton Rouge, La. – Sacramento native, Kendall Banks, left the Golden State to attend Southern University this fall, after touring the campus for the first time.

President-Chancellor Dr. Ray Belton met recently on the Baton Rouge campus with administrators from Bursa Technical University in Bursa, Turkey. The meeting was a goodwill stop by the Turkish delegation to reaffirm its partnership with Southern University on student, faculty and staff exchanges.

SU President-Chancellor Dr. Ray Belton spoke on a number of subjects July 20th at the Baton Rouge Press Club.

Southern University’s National Alumni Federation President Preston J. Castille, Jr. has been selected as a recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association’ “Citizen Lawyer Award.”

Dreams do come true, just ask Randell Henry. Henry, associate professor of art at Southern, recently had one of his paintings chosen by New York Times lead art critic as her favorite work in the New York exhibition, “60 Americans.”

The Upward Bound program at Southern University is marking 50 years of helping thousands of students in Baton Rouge and around the state to get a jump-start on access to higher education.
