A group of Southern University graduates, called the Reunion of Friends, presented Chancellor Dr. James L. Llorens with a check on Monday representing a $4,000 donation.

The Southern University Lab School held an Open House for a new delivery system in education to schoolchildren - even those in pre-k and kindergarten - called Mini-Labs on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 10:15 a.m.

The Aquila Theatre, a nationally recognized troupe from New York City, will present a free acting class Thursday for Southern University students, and seniors from SU’s Laboratory School and White Castle High on the Baton Rouge campus.

Minutes before speaking to a Homecoming 2013 Ecumenical Service audience at Southern University, Bishop Joseph Walker, III, surprised officials Monday with a $10,000 donation to the school’s world famous “Human Jukebox” Marching Band.

TOPS is a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Chancellor Dr. James L. Llorens and Dr. Barbara Carpenter, dean and professor for Center of International Affairs and University Outreach, were quoted in an article in the Sept. 26 edition of Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine. The article, HBCU-Latino Connection, focuses on SUBR's effort to students from Brazil.

The Department of Behavioral Sciences will hold the 15th Annual Social and Behavioral Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Smith-Brown Memorial Union Cotillion Ballroom.
