Inspiring Future Engineers Through STEM Day
As part of STEM Day on February 27, 2025, the Computer Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) team proudly represented the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Woodlawn Middle School. The event provided an exciting opportunity to introduce middle school students to the diverse and rapidly growing fields of electrical and computer engineering.
During the event, the CERL team showcased a variety of hands-on engineering projects and interactive demonstrations, allowing students to explore technologies such as robotics, embedded systems, electronics, autonomous systems, and computing applications. Through direct interaction with university students and faculty, participants gained a better understanding of how engineering concepts are applied to solve real-world problems and improve everyday life.
The outreach activity was designed to inspire young learners to pursue STEM education and to increase awareness of the many academic and career opportunities available within the ECE discipline. By engaging students through practical demonstrations and discussions, the CERL team helped spark curiosity, encourage innovation, and promote early interest in engineering and technology.
The photos below capture some of the exciting moments from this event and reflect CERL's ongoing commitment to inspiring future engineers, strengthening community engagement, and expanding awareness of STEM and Electrical and Computer Engineering education.
