Outreach Visit to the Southern University Laboratory School – April 22, 2026
On April 22, 2026, the Computer Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) team from Southern University's Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department visited the Southern University Laboratory School (SU Lab School) to provide students with an engaging, hands-on introduction to engineering and technology.
The visit focused on exposing students to the exciting opportunities available across engineering disciplines through interactive projects, demonstrations, and discussions led by ECE faculty and student mentors. By showcasing real-world applications in electronics, robotics, computer engineering, and emerging technologies, the outreach activity encouraged students to explore STEM fields and discover how engineering affects everyday life.
This visit reflects CERL's continued commitment to inspiring future engineers, promoting STEM education, and creating meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity and innovation among young learners. Through partnerships with local schools such as SU Lab School, CERL continues to strengthen the STEM pipeline and encourage students to pursue future educational and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The photos below capture highlights from our visit and showcase students actively engaging with engineering through hands-on learning experiences.
