Organization Misconduct and Hazing Sanctions

Overview

Southern University and A&M College is dedicated to creating safe, respectful, and inclusive communities in all of our Student Organizations. In accordance with Louisiana law (including the Max Gruver Act) and University policy prohibiting hazing and other misconduct, the University keeps a record of organizations found responsible for hazing and other serious infractions.
 
The following list is provided as a matter of transparency, to ensure that current and future students and families can make informed decisions, and to underscore the University's expectation that all Student Organizations will act in ways that are consistent with the University's mission and values.
 
This page contains a list of Student Organizations that, as of January 1, 2019, have been:
  • Determined, through investigation and through established due process, to be in violation of Louisiana’s definition of hazing and/or University policy.
  • Issued a sanction through the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, Office of Student Conduct, or through other applicable University processes. 
In regard to each organization, the University will provide:
  • Organization name and council affiliation, if applicable (i.e. NPHC, IFC, Panhellenic, local council).
  • Date(s) of the case/incident. 
  • Policies violated (i.e. Hazing, Endangerment, Coercive Behavior, Alcohol/Drug Policy, Failure to Comply).
  • Sanctions issued (i.e. suspension, expulsion, probation, educational requirements, loss of privileges). 
  • Start and end date of sanctions, if applicable.
