The Office of Policy and Accreditation Compliance at Southern University, Baton Rouge, exists to make understanding and following university policies easier for everyone on campus. We provide information about the rules and guidelines that shape academic and administrative life, helping students, faculty, and staff navigate their responsibilities with confidence. Our goal is to support a safe, fair, and productive environment where learning and innovation can thrive. Policy Development Statement

Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) is committed to maintaining clear, consistent, and accessible policies that support its mission of academic excellence, student success, and operational integrity. Policies serve as the framework for decision-making, compliance with laws and accreditation standards, and the fair and efficient functioning of the university. All new and revised policies must follow a standardized development and review process to ensure quality, transparency, and accountability.

SUBR formally approves university policies through an established process, publishes those policies in a consistent format, and maintains those official policies in a widely accessible, searchable policy library.

Policies are developed, reviewed, and approved in a manner that ensures consistency with the university’s mission and with applicable law and guidance. Review and approval processes must be appropriate to the scope and impact of each policy.

To ensure strong and effective policy management and a useful policy library, university policies adhere to a uniform policy classification format, layout, defined terms, and numbering system. Units, responsible offices, and policy managers may not modify the format or layout (the template) for policy, nor may they substitute other terms for roles, responsibilities, or policy sections.
