Nursing school dean named fellow by national nurse practitioner organization

Sandra Brown, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, was recently named a fellow by the American Association Nursing Practitioners during its annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. As an AANP fellow, she joins an elite group of nurse practitioner leaders who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education or policy.
Southern University selected as pilot institution for CIA recruitment, workforce program

The Southern University System and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on Monday entered into an unprecedented partnership to benefit students and faculty. The agreement will serve as the foundational framework for the university system’s participation in the CIA’s recruitment and workforce development initiative, which is part of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Second Annual Pete Richardson Classic kicks off Friday

Electrical engineering department awarded $400k grant to develop research lab

Southern University was recently awarded a $400,000 research grant through the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities - Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP), to develop an industry-based Computer Engineering Research Lab (CERL) in the electrical engineering department.

Rose Bowl Parade head visits with Human Jukebox

The Human Jukebox will be ringing in the New Year with a trip to sunny California. In January, the band, along with the Fabulous Dancing Dolls, will participate in the 131st Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. This year’s theme is “The Power of Hope” which celebrates the influence of optimism and hope.
