English Honor Society

A new local chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society has been established at Southern University. The Alpha Psi Zeta chapter connects members with the resources and opportunities of a very large and long-established honor society with over 875 local chapters in the U.S. and abroad.

Chapter members may apply for a variety of scholarships and internships; attend Sigma Tau Delta’s annual spring convention; and submit papers or articles for consideration for various society publications. Each local chapter is also encouraged to participate in social service activities that foster literacy.

Membership is by invitation only to English majors or others who meet specific academic and course requirements that are detailed on www.english.org. Students who think they meet the requirements should contact the faculty sponsor.
