Writing Proficiency
Who has to take the WPE?
A student DOES NOT have to register for English 1 (WPE):
- He or she has passed English 111 at SUBR during and since Fall 2010.
- He or she is currently taking English 111 at SUBR.
- He or she has passed English 101 at BRCC, English 102 at Southeastern Louisiana University, or English 102 at Delgado Community College.
- He or she has articulated a WPE test equivalent from any other institution.
- Students who passed English 111 under the SUSLA CONNECT banner on SUBR’s campus Fall 2013 do not need to take the English 1.
A student DOES have to register for English 1 (WPE):
- He or she passed English 111 before Fall 2010.
- He or she has transferred to SUBR and has not articulated an equivalent to the WPE test itself.
Note: Even though an equivalent for SUBR’s English 111 has been accepted by SUBR, the students must show proof and must have articulated an equivalent to the WPE test itself.
Note: SUBR’s English Department does not have any information from any institution other than BRCC. Therefore, the student would need to provide the information via a course description and complete the articulation process.
