Diola Bagayoko, Southern University System distinguished professor of physics and dean of the DMR Spikes Honors College, recently received a research grant from the United States Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

Sandra Brown, professor, Southern University College of Nursing and Allied Health, was bestowed the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Acadiana Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA). The award was presented to Brown earlier this month in conjunction with the annual President’s Scholarship Gala held at the Ramada Inn Convention Center in Lafayette.

Due to the extensive flooding and restoration work, beginning Wednesday, January 24, library services will be offered on the 1st floor in the John B. Cade Library Student Center (Snack Lounge/Coffee Shop).

Stephen C. McGuire, the Southern University James and Ruth Smith Endowed Professor of Physics, has been elected to the Edward Bouchet-Abdus Salam Institute (EBASI) Council of the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP).

Enjoli Courtney, a graduating senior nursing student in the College of Nursing and Allied Health is the recipient of the Fall 2017 P. Morgan Nursing Scholarship awarded by Patrice Walker, a Spring 1995 Southern University School of Nursing alumna.

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) announced November 27, that Southern University and A&M College is one of 43 providers from 22 states and the District of Columbia to receive accreditation for their educator preparation programs.

Southern University program associate and recruiter for the Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College, Eric G. Pugh was elected as the new national vice president for the National Association of African American Honors Program (NAAAHP).

Southern University participated in the 2016 Belize Study Abroad program with Wesley Junior College in Belize, Central America, May 15-June 5. The three-week program was coordinated through the SU Center for International Affairs and University Outreach, directed by dean and state representative Barbara Carpenter, with assistant to the dean, Kristan Gordon.

Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) student Arnedia Wallace will be one step closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming a lawyer when she receives her bachelor of arts degree in political science Friday, May 13, 2016, during the University’s spring commencement exercises at 10:30 in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
