Out of State Fee Waiver

Jaguar Out-of-State Fee Waiver

Southern University and A&M College intends to fully pursue the University's mission by strongly supporting its efforts of providing a high quality global educational experience to its students.  A full out-of-state fee waiver will be granted to any qualified incoming freshman who graduated from a high school from any state in the USA or new Transfer student, who meets the following criteria:

  • Minimum high school or transfer GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 Scale

Any student who wishes to continue receiving the out-of state fee waiver beyond the initial academic year, which the waiver is awarded, must retain a full-time student status with a minimum of 15 hours completed per semester or 30 hours completed per academic year (Fall and Spring) and maintain a cumulative minimum 2.5 GPA.  Fee waivers cover Fall and Spring semesters only and can be retained for up to eight (8) semesters total.


Note: Fee waivers are applied directly to qualified students banner accounts prior to the start of the admitted term after final transcripts are recieved and processed.  


The Out-of-State Fee Waiver covers all qualified first-time freshman and transfer students; effective Fall 2016. updated Spring 2019 and Summer 2021.


Legacy Award

If a parent is a graduate of Southern University and A&M College, applicants qualify to have their out-of-state fees reduced by 100%.
