College of Sciences and Engineering Scholarship
The College of Sciences and Engineering (CSE) awards scholarships to students whose selected major is in the purview of the CSE. The CSE hosts the following undergraduate disciplines:
- Biology,
- Chemistry,
- Mathematics and Physics,
- Computer Science,
- Civil and Environmental Engineering,
-
Computer Engineering,
-
Electrical Engineering,
- Mechanical Engineering, and
- Construction Management.
CSE scholarships are supported by foundations, industries, corporations, and governmental agencies. Recipients receive awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 per academic year for four years or up to eight academic semesters, based on donor specified major, and eligibility requirement. The renewal of awards are contingent on donor specifications, a student's academic performance, and certification of satisfactory progress toward degree requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Incoming first year students must:
1. |
declare a major in a CSE discipline; |
2. |
have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); |
3. |
submit official seven semester high school transcripts; |
4. |
submit official ACT (SAT) scores of 21 (1060 - 1090) or better; |
5. |
submit two letters of recommendation; and |
6. |
meet the March 1 application submission deadline. |
Upperclassmen must:
1. |
be enrolled full-time in an engineering program; |
2. |
be in good standing at the university; |
3. |
have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); |
4. |
submit official college transcripts; |
5. |
submit official ACT (SAT) scores; |
6. |
submit two letters of recommendation; and |
7. |
meet the March 1 application submission deadline. |
Transfer Students Must:
1. |
be enrolled full-time in an engineering program at Southern University for at least one semester; |
2. |
be in good standing at the university; |
3. |
have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); |
4. |
submit official college transcripts; |
5. |
submit official ACT (SAT) scores; |
6. |
submit two letters of recommendation; and |
7. |
meet the March 1 application submission deadline. |
