The College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies emphasizes a broad and diverse view of liberal arts and education, empowering its students to become critically aware of human complexities, as well as social and educational institutions, and problems.
School of Education
The School of Education is a part of the College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies. The School of Education offers the baccalaureate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. This degree program allows students to customize their degree by taking advantage of prior college coursework. Students are further engaged in upper level coursework that is rigorous and comprehensive. Upon completion of the degree requirements, graduates are well-prepared for graduate and professional schools, as well as the global workforce.
Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies is awarded to students who have satisfactorily completed 120 semester credit hours, including the following:
- 60 semester credit hours of University general education requirements
- 8 semester credit hours of required departmental courses
- 10 semester credit hours of electives
- 18-21 semester credit hours in Minor One
- 18-21 semester credit hours in Minor Two
Special Requirements in the Major Coursework
Students must complete 45 semester credit hours of the elective and minor courses from 300-400 level courses.

Academic Standards for BIS Students
Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all required minor courses. To graduate, students must have a G.P.A. of 2.0 in the minor courses.
